Recipe: Macaroni Cheese

Hello,

Today i thought that i would share my recipe for macaroni cheese. Macaroni is such an easy meal to make and very cheap too. Great for students or busy, hard working people.

Serves 6 – Prep 15 minutes – Cook 30 minutes 

Ingredients

2 tbsp Butter

75g plain flour

300-400ml milk

350g grated cheese

400g macaroni

 

Mehtod

In a medium saucepan bring water to a boil and place in your macaroni pasta, set a timer for 12 minutes and stir every few minutes.

In a smaller saucepan melt the butter on a low heat. Once the butter has melted stir in the flour until a soft dough like mixture has formed. Then add half the milk until the milk is absorbed and then add the other half, keep stirring until smooth, forming a white sauce.

When the white sauce is smooth you can add 3/4 of the grated cheese to create a cheese sauce, keep stirring sauce until smooth again and then take it off the heat.

By now the pasta should be ready, take off the heat and drain in a colander and rinse with cold water. Then add the pasta to the cheese sauce and mix it all together.

Pour the macaroni into an oven proof dish and sprinkle the remainder of the cheese on top and bake in the oven at gas mark 5 for 30 minutes.

You can eat the macaroni like this but i like to place mine under the grill for 5 minutes to let the cheese on top crisp up.
